Microbreweries are popping up everywhere. So, where are the risks, and how are they managed?
The craft beer market in Australia, according to a report from Statista, is experiencing impressive growth as drinkers turn away from mass-produced beverages and instead focus on local, niche and premium drinks.
“Craft breweries have gained traction in recent years, offering consumers a wide range of unique and flavourful beer options,” the report says.
“This trend has been fuelled by a growing consumer interest in artisanal and locally produced products. As a result, the market has seen a proliferation of craft breweries across the country.”
The story is the same in New Zealand, with general beer sales rising five million litres between 2021 and 2022, and a boom in the number of breweries to about 200.
