Insurers are on alert as the challenges of flight delays and lost luggage look set to continue for customers with airlines and airports struggling to restaff operations post-COVID.
Over the last few months, it’s become clear that while travellers are more than ready to get moving again, airlines and support services were unprepared to ramp up.
With airlines and airports short-staffed after lockdown redundancies — as well as employees off sick with COVID-19 — there have been widespread flight cancellations and delays worldwide. The situation is expected to continue to at least the end of the year.
Typically, this is exactly why people buy travel insurance. So, how is the current travel chaos impacting insurers?
